Poetry Challenge Event, 27 April 2011
Inspired by the works created by Wave artists for the Lake show at the New Icelandic Heritage Museum, LWWG members wrote poems that were shared with the membership and members of the public. Fred Bieber acted as the judge for the event. The challenge was to write quickly and spontaneously and a good time was had by all. The poems were a nice mixture of melancholy and tongue in cheek humour. The beauty and diversity in the art works and poems speaks to our creativity as human beings. Several of the writers will be submitting their poems to the New Icelandic Heritage Museum so that they can be shared with the artists.
Please click on our winners names to read their winning poems: First Prize, Bill Martin (The Lake Lives); Second Prize, Debra Dusome (Watch Out for Betsy #1: Ice Hill); and Honourable Mention, Helma Rogge Rehders (Connected).
