Watch Out For Betsy
Betsy is the Pippi Long Stocking,
Amelia Earhart,
Nellie McClung,
Gloria Steinem,
Methuselah of the Lake.
Her mercurial spirit,
Feisty persona,
Doesn't take no for an answer.
Doesn't suffer fools gladly.
Doesn't accommodate trespassers,
And doesn't follow the rules.
She is the woman,
Men don't understand.
And never will.
She is a tyrant, a temptress and a troublemaker.
She is the mystery and the magic of the Lake.
She is timely and untimely,
But never timid.
She draws us to her bosoms.
Folds us into the beauty of the Lake.
But watch out for Betsy …
They don't call her Betsy Wetsy for nothing.
